Project: Dylan Rieder – A Life Retrospective, magazine concept for SOLO Skate Mag.
Concept: Dylan Rieder is a professional skateboarder from Westminster, California. At age 28, Rieder died from complications on October 12, 2016 after beating leukemia twice before. He was known for his effortless skate-style, and nonconformity when it came to fashion & aesthetics. For the magazine layout & concept, I wanted to keep within a monochromatic colour scheme and use Courier as the body copy typeface. The colours, typography and photography exude who Dylan was, and still is, as an icon in skateboarding.
Role: Developing conceptual magazine layout. Focus on typography, art direction & layout styles. Curation & editing of text.
Project was not picked up, or distributed by SOLO Skate Mag. Project has been see & approved by SOLO Skate Mag as conceptual design. This was a personal project. All photography rights belong to their respective owners.
